Innovation / STREAM Teacher 2024-2025 School Year, Holy Trinity Catholic Academy

Overview

Under the direction of the school principal, the Innovation/STREAM Teacher is responsible for supporting the school and the Diocese of Bridgeport in its mission. He/she is to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through the diocesan approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress; addressing educational needs of individual students; creating a flexible and safe learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress. Educators are engaged in a school conducted by the Roman Catholic Church to express the purpose of education in the academic, social, moral, and religious values promulgated by the Church.

Responsibilities

  • Recognizing and supporting the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Supports the STREAM focused school-wide initiative.
  • Coaches teachers in best practices for instructing STREAM lessons.
  • Collaborates with teachers on project-based learning with individual classes.
  • Infuses STREAM lessons throughout grade levels.
  • Incorporates use of technology into STREAM lessons and supports teachers in use of technology.
  • Researches grants to expand technology resources for STREAM lessons and collaborates with Administration to complete applications.
  • Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Is an active member of a faith community.
  • Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives and incorporating school and diocesan curriculum objectives in lesson plans.
  • Promotes a safe and conducive classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
  • Demonstrates competence in teaching by having current knowledge of curriculum and subject matter, communicating effectively with students, and motivating student learning.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, reading professional educational publications, etc.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Develops and uses effective methods of evaluation that are directly related to curriculum objectives, concepts and skills taught.
  • Establishes a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self-direction and positive self-image. Manages inappropriate behavior effectively per school/diocesan policies.
  • Cooperates with school and diocesan administration; works effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information.

Basic Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and strong commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church
  • Background through college coursework or experience in teaching STREAM curriculum.
  • Experience in effectively incorporating technology components into lessons.
  • Knowledge of and ability to support teachers in use of technology components.
  • Knowledge of acquisition and incorporation of technology components into STREAM curriculum.
  • Excellent communications skills, including written, verbal, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well organized.
  • Be available for evening meetings as necessary.
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional bearing and neat personal appearance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited college/university in Education or related discipline to teaching assignment
  • Valid State Teaching Certification in appropriate grade level and/or subject

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing
  • Master’s Degree
  • Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School
  • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level
